Howard Brook Resilient Home
Custom Home • Hybrid Build • Resilient Construction
Project Overview
The Howard Brook Resilient Home is a custom conventionally framed residence built in Howard Brook, New Brunswick, designed with durability, efficiency, and long-term livability in mind. While constructed using traditional framing methods, the home incorporates resilience-focused design elements to enhance comfort, functionality, and performance in a rural climate.
Moose Mountain Construction was responsible for the primary construction of the home, including the structure, exterior envelope, and interior build-out. The project was delivered through a hybrid build model, with the homeowner completing select portions of the work, including excavation and site preparation, while our team executed the core construction phases.
A key resilience feature of the home is the integration of a wood cook stove, providing an alternative heat and cooking source and increasing the home’s ability to remain functional during power outages or extreme weather conditions.
The finished home reflects a thoughtful balance between professional construction expertise and hands-on homeowner involvement, resulting in a durable, energy-conscious custom home built for comfort, independence, and long-term performance.
